As competition for talent intensifies in the post-pandemic world, ATAL Engineering Group (ATAL) has stepped up its efforts to attract talent, including better reconnection with former colleagues living overseas so that they may consider rejoining the Group in a different market.
One of the initiatives is the ATAL Alumni platform established in July 2022 to create a community of ATAL’s former employees, attracting over 700 members. Quarterly newsletters keep them abreast of the Group’s latest developments, with networking events in the pipeline.
Indeed, two former colleagues, Nelson Cheung (left) and Sam Mok (right), who had worked for the Group in Hong Kong for years before relocating to the UK, have recently rejoined the Group’s subsidiary Anlev (UK) Limited to work on the Victoria Riverside project for which Anlev (UK) is the lift contractor. An iconic and prestigious residential development in Manchester, the project consists of three towers of up to 37 storeys and two smaller podiums up to 6 storeys. It is scheduled for completion in 2025.
Nelson and Sam, now Project Manager and Senior Technician respectively at the Victoria Riverside project, were delighted to meet ATAL Engineering Group Chairman Ir Dr Otto Poon (centre) at the project site during his recent visit to the UK. All were delighted to see the renewed working relationship in the ATAL global family.
ATAL’s global talent network and contribution of the ATAL Alumni platform is also showcased by another former Hong Kong colleague Kenneth Lee, who has also relocated to the UK and has started to work as a Senior Technical Consultant for our Information, Communications and Building Technologies business in Hong Kong from his new home base.
Both Nelson and Sam appreciate the support of their former Hong Kong colleagues in making the job opportunity referrals. They also cherish ATAL’s supportive and inclusive culture and its commitment to excellence and sustainability, which are their main reasons for rejoining. Both believe that rejoining ATAL is a great fit for their background and career goals, and that their skillset and experience can contribute to the Group’s UK operations.
