            Sustainability is another ATAL strength, as seen in Dr Poon’s
            passion for environmental protection. “As an engineer, I feel
            that engineering has consumed substantial resources from
            nature. We are duty-bound to care for the environment,”
            said Dr Poon.

            Dr Poon emerged as one of Hong Kong’s earliest advocates
            of sustainable development when he was President of the
            Hong Kong Institution of Engineers more than two decades
            ago. He also takes a personal interest in climate change
            and has participated in the United Nations Framework
            Convention on Climate Change and served the community
            via his work on the Advisory Council on the Environment, the
            Energy Advisory Committee and the Council for Sustainable
            Development.
