Worker Safety Management System is a customised solution ATAL developed for MTR Corporation to achieve high safety standards in challenging tunnel environments, while also cementing the status of ATAL as Hong Kong’s first vendor to provide Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) based access control system. The innovative system earned the recognition of ICT Bronze Award under the category of “Best Smart Hong Kong (Internet of Things Application)” by GS1 Hong Kong in 2015. The helmet-mounted RFID tags monitor workers’ movements in real-time inside the 26km-long tunnel, enhancing the overall incident management capability. This system was designed to remain up to 5,000 workers under monitoring.
