Organic Resources Recovery Centre at Siu Ho Wan

A project of ATAL’s Environmental Engineering Services, Hong Kong’s first organic resources recovery centre at Siu Ho Wan in northern Lantau Island processed up to 200 tons of food waste daily, turning it into biogas for use in electricity generation and compost. The Siu Ho Wan facility is a first step towards recycling Hong Kong’s 4,000-ton daily output, and the first of up to six bio-mass to electricity plants planned through 2022. The target is to reduce the volume of food waste disposed at landfills by 40% by 2022. ATAL is responsible for design, supply and installation of the electrical and mechanical systems and building services for the facilities. These facilities will also serve as an education centre where the next generation can learn about the environment and the importance of preserving it.
