ATAL Chairman Ir Dr Otto Poon Visits Professor Li Xiaohong, President of Chinese Academy of Engineering

Ir Dr Otto Poon, Chairman of ATAL Engineering Group (ATAL) and President of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences (HKAES), visited the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) during a recent visit to Beijing. As a leading academic institution in the nation’s fields of engineering sciences and technology, the CAE is dedicated to uniting outstanding talents in engineering to lead innovation and development in Mainland China.
Ir Dr Poon was warmly welcomed by Professor Li Xiaohong, President of the CAE. During the meeting, Prof. Li expressed the importance which the CAE attached to its cooperation with the HKAES and welcomed outstanding engineering experts and academics from Hong Kong and Macau to join the CAE as members. He also supported the continued participation of the HKAES in activities of the Global Grand Challenges Summit, a joint initiative between the CAE and its counterparts in the US and UK.
Prof. Li encouraged CAE members and experts to take part in academic activities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and hoped that the HKAES would play a leading role in facilitating technological innovations and helping Hong Kong integrate further with national development and strategies.
“We are honoured to have maintained ongoing exchanges of insights and cooperation with the CAE for more than 20 years, particularly with regard to the Global Grand Challenges Summit and tackling climate change,” said Ir Dr Poon. He outlined the HKAES’ efforts in promoting innovation and technology development and raising professional standards of the engineering sector in Hong Kong; and looked forward to further communications with the CAE and deeper collaboration between the technology and engineering sectors in Hong Kong and Mainland China.
