ATAL Wins Hong Kong ICT Awards 2015: Best Smart Hong Kong (Internet of Things Application) Bronze Award

ATAL Engineering Group’s Integrated ICT Solutions arm was delighted to win the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2015: Best Smart Hong Kong (Internet of Things Application) Bronze Award, steered by Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, with the Construction Stage Tunnel Access Control System (TACS) on 10 April 2015.

Construction Stage Tunnel Access Control System (TACS) is ATAL’s customised solution for MTR Corporation to raise the safety levels in a challenging long tunnel environment, while also cementing ATAL’s status as Hong Kong first vendor of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) access control systems in such harsh environments.

TACS integrates advanced active RFID technology, 3G telecommunication and custom-made software to keep track of workers’ movements inside the 26 kilometres of tunnel sites via RFID tags installed in their helmets and RFID readers within different tunnel segments. Combined with software tailored to the unique demands of a tunnel environment, TACS takes incident handling to a higher level and shortening response time in the event of accident or emergency.
