Engaging with ATAL’s Young Talent

安樂工程連繫明日菁英

ATAL Engineering Group (ATAL) values its people and has long invested in talent development, demonstrated in its “Hong Kong Institute of Engineers Scheme A Graduate Training Programme” and the “Vocational Training Council Apprenticeship Programme” conducted since 1984, having nurtured more than 1,000 Graduate Trainees (GTs) and technician trainees for our Group and the industry over the years.

At a gathering with our 2021 cohort of GTs who have recently completed their two-year training with ATAL, our Group Chairman Ir Dr Otto Poon, Chief Executive Officer Ir Raymond Chan and our senior management team shared ATAL’s development strategies and the career opportunities it offers.

“We have a culture of trust and are committed to nurturing young talent for the industry,” said Ir Dr Poon.

The GTs expressed their appreciation of the comprehensive training and job rotations offered by ATAL, which have helped them grow as all-rounded engineering professionals. The training programme also built their confidence, communication skills, team spirit and the ability to deliver successful projects under challenging environments.

Meanwhile, Ir Dr Poon and our senior management team welcomed the 2023 GTs to the ATAL family at an orientation held in our dedicated training space – ATAL Training Centre. Ir Dr Poon outlined ATAL’s core values and strengths in multi-disciplinary electrical and mechanical (E&M) engineering and technology capabilities. The GTs were also briefed on the Group’s “New Technology, New Market, New Business Model” strategic pillars and its motto of “We Commit・We Perform・We Deliver”, with an emphasis on innovation.

In a related strategic move, ATAL recruited 65 interns for its 2023 Summer Trainee Programme which consisted of two- to three-month exposure and practical work to the E&M engineering industry. The programme concluded with completion ceremonies hosted by ATAL’s Managing Director Ir Brian Cheng to celebrate the success of the internships.

For the first time, we have made conditional offers to summer trainees with outstanding performance to become our GTs or Assistant Engineers upon university graduation. Another new initiative was to enrol all summer trainees in our ATAL Alumni community to maintain their bond with ATAL through regular updates on our Group’s development.

Leveraging the provision of quality training opportunities, ATAL is committed to building a strong talent pipeline and an inclusive ATAL family to fully unleash our people’s potential, ultimately contributing to nurturing of talent for our industry.
