ATAL Engineering Group (ATAL) has always been a pioneer in the adoption of new technology within the industry, providing innovative electrical and mechanical (E&M) solutions to our customers. Ir Dave Chan, ATAL’s Chief Executive of Information, Communications and Building Technologies (ICBT) has been a guest panellist at the “Greater Bay Area Summit 2022” organised by the Hong Kong Economic Journal, sharing his insights into the topic of “Development of Innovation and Technology” and the Greater Bay Area (GBA) development.
With detailed examples and case sharing, Ir Chan highlighted ATAL’s adoption of advanced technologies from design, building, to operation, which helps achieve optimal energy efficiency and sustainability. For instance, the adoption of Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), Multi-Trade Integrated Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MiMEP) and our proprietary ATAL Building Services Prefabrication and Modularisation Construction Technology (ABSPM) has enabled us to shorten construction period and reduce costs and waste.
For property management, Ir Chan shared the importance of adopting energy saving and renewable energy technology in our projects. Currently ATAL has installed Energy Management System in 350 buildings in Hong Kong, in contribution to sustainable development. Another example is our in-house developed Smart Building Platform with the application of big data analytics and machine learning. This innovative solution has successfully helped a number of Grade-A office buildings to further reduce energy consumption by 7% to 11%.
Ir Chan also discussed how Hong Kong could benefit from the GBA development with other panellists. He further pointed out the challenge Hong Kong is facing – the lack of AI engineers and data engineers. Ir Chan has expressed his views for the HKSAR Government to attract talents through the city’s integration into the GBA development.
Sparing no efforts in nurturing talent, ATAL has established ATAL Training Centre with an aim to contribute to the sustainable development of the Group and the E&M engineering industry as a whole.
