As the E&M package contractor of Shatin Communications and Technology Centre (SCTC) of Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), ATAL Engineering Group’s Business Services is very honoured to have taken part and contributed to the successful completion of the HKJC SCTC project in 2015. Recently, this project has won the “2016 ASHRAE Regional XIII Technology Award in the new building category”.

This award is to recognise the innovative designs which incorporate ASHRAE standards for effective energy management, indoor air quality and good mechanical designs. Among all the submissions from Asia Pacific, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia, only three buildings were being selected and obtained ASHRAE Regional XIII Technology Award this year. ATAL is very pleased to hear that the HKJC SCTC project which we had participated is one of the winners of this Award.

Shatin Communications and Technology Centre is a 10-storey building providing over 500,000 square feet of premium corporate space to the HKJC. This purpose-built building is now home to the HKJC’s Telebet Centre, Broadcasting Services and the IT Division, and also provides additional space for the Hong Kong Jockey Club College. As the E&M contractor of this project, ATAL aimed at providing the best solutions and services to the client, working to high safety, reliability and quality standards. Our scope of works included the combined building services installation comprising MVAC, Electrical, Fire and plumbing and drainage installation for the base building, as well as for the fitting out contract for IT and Broadcasting Office.

ASHRAE Society President Mr. Tim Wentz visited SCTC earlier and had a very positive feedback. He was impressed by the good workmanship and services coordination, particular in the chiller plant room at basement and service corridor. Mr. Wentz’s compliment on our works is definitely a strong encouragement to ATAL’s team. We are so proud that our Building Services installation is one of the key factors contributing to this successful outcome. This award not only affirms the effort ATAL has put into this project, but also encourages us to pursue engineering and service excellency.
